Are your Counseling Services or Therapy Sessions affordable?
My counseling fee is a flat rate for a 50 minute session. I do not accept insurance but can bill your insurance for you, under your out of network benefits. Except for HMO’s. Billing under the client’s out of network insurance benefits, most clients receive 80%, 70% or 60% of my fee back depending on their plan.
Payment is cash, check, credit card, or debt card.
Session and pricing is a flat rate for a 50-minute session. Sessions are most effective if they are weekly at first and then can move to bi-weekly. Multiple sessions in a week may be necessary depending on the crisis or situation.

What if I want to use my insurance for Counseling Services?
If you want to use your insurance benefits, the first thing to do is contact your carrier to ask the following questions:
- Do I have mental health benefits?
- What is my deductible and has it been met?
- How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?
- How much do you pay for an out-of-net provider?
- Is there a limitation on how much you will pay per session?
- If you have an HMO, is authorization required by the primary physician?
Why don’t you accept insurance?
The reason I don’t participate with insurance panels is because they require a DSM-IV diagnosis and this and our work together becomes part of your medical records. The insurance company dictates the treatment process and length. This can affect you down the road, i.e., you could be denied life insurance.
How will counseling and therapy benefit me?
People usually are seeking therapy when they are having a crisis in their life. When their coping skills are not working as well or not all. When their depression, anxiety, or insomnia is interfering in their ability to function on a daily basis. Therapy provides an understanding of behavior patterns, why we do what we do. It teaches healthy, effective skill building to resolve and manage your issues. Therapy provides the environment to get “unstuck” from your issues. It is a positive solution-focused approach to changing your life. In our work together we will develop goals and a plan to accomplish the change in your life and/or relationship. There is an end to treatment.
